2AM News: The week in review March 19-25

Second Amendment News Digest

Self defense stories from Ohio, Louisiana, Maryland, Texas, New York, Michigan, and Oklahoma. In legislative news, 'Stand your ground' legislation passes in Georgia and Tennessee, but is shot down in New Hampshire (which I reckon has changed the state motto to the 'retreat or die' state). In Hawaii, Stand Your Ground never even got a hearing ( Like sheep to slaughter) Stand your Ground becomes law in Indiana, as their governor signs the bill, and in Kansas the governor's veto is overidden by the Senate.

Commentaries this week on the New Orleans gov't thugs admission that they did indeed seize citizens' guns during Katrina, and, a poignant commentary from a father whose daughter was murdered ('Torn on concealed carry). In actions this week, join in the fun with the 2nd annual TCF Combat Rifle Postal Match (your targets are due April 29) and download the updated version of the Patriot Act game (which now includes updates on GITMO, NSA wiretaps, and the renewal of the Patriot Act.) And don't forget the St. Gabriel Possenti Society's action 'Stop Church Gun Grabbers' this is an excellent and easy action for all church going gunnies.

2AM News: The week in review March 12-18

Second Amendment News Digest

Plenty of self defense news this week, from Alabama, Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Montana, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, New Jersey, Wyoming, Ohio, Kentucky and the Virgin Islands ... my favorites this week, the 75 year old SC granny who fended off an intruder with kitchen utensils while she tried to get to her gun in the bedroom, and the pregnant 23 year old NC mom who protected herself, her 2 small children and unborn child by shooting and killing an intruder. In legislative news, Virginia OKs guns in glove compartments, proposals for making conceal carry permits 'easier' advance in Delaware and Kentucky, 'stand your ground' laws advance in Pennsylvania, Alabama, New Hampshire and South Carolina; while in California, San Francisco sets penalties for those who decline to be victims. In South Africa, the firearm renewal period is extended, and in New Orleans gov't thugs admit to gun thefts. In commentaries, 2 excellent articles on the Angel Shamaya situation, and in actions, a new cool action for church going gunnies, Stop Church Gun Grabbers.

2AM News: The week in review March 5-March 11

Second Amendment News Digest

A good week for self defense stories as armed homeowners (including a 75 year old grandmom) fend off intruders in Tennessee, Utah, Missouri, Florida, Illinois, Texas, Arizona and Ohio, and store owners and clerks protect their stores from robbers in California and Arizona. Dummies of the week award to clueless raffle winners in South Carolina who turn down the AK-47 prize (hey, I'm in SC, they could give it to me!), and a court in Missouri hears a gun permit case for a guy denied a permit because he was once evaluated at a mental health facility (evaluated and with no finding of mental illness) ... and while not so dumb Iraqis keep their Kalashnikovs handy and buy more weapons for protection.

Keep up with the latest on the arrest of Angel Shamaya, founder of KeepAndBearArms.com, jailed last week in Michigan on for possession of firearms not properly registered under Michigan law ... Angel's court date is March 14, and you can send messages of support or contributions to his defense fund at the Montana Shooting Sports Association "Angel" page at www.marbut.com/Angel/.

2AM News: The week in review Feb.26-Mar 4

Self defense stories from Tennessee, Texas, Minnesota, Indiana, California, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Maryland. Good legislative news from Kentucky, Indiana and Georgia, where 'stand your ground' bills advance in the legislature; bad news from the Old Dominion state, as Virginia legislators decide their constituents have a 'duty to retreat'. The 'most idiotic' award this week is divided between the Glendale City council which may follow Los Angeles County's lead by outlawing gun sales on municipal property, and The International News Safety Institute, which is urging journalists IN IRAQ to 'resist the call to carry arms'.

In actions this week, please take a moment to help out a fellow 2AM activist ... Angel Shamaya, founder of KeepAndBearArms.com is in jail in Michigan, having been arrested for possession of firearms not properly registered under Michigan law ... he needs letters of support immediately!
