The week in review (July 24-29)
The weekly e-mail version of 2AM News just went out, if you'd like to subscribe go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/secondamendmentnewsdigest
Our news feed for daily updates is still not working. I've begun posting
the daily updates here where they'll continue until the news feed at RRND gets fixed.
Self defense in Missouri, Georgia, Utah, Texas, NC, Florida, Arizona, Washington, Pennsylvania, Michigan, California, Alaska, Indiana, Louisiana ... and South Africa! (Have you all noticed there seem to be more armed self defense stories reported nowadays?)
In the category of "good and bad news" ... the Senate passed the bill that would protect gun industry from frivolous lawsuits... but caved in at the last minute to add an amendment requiring mandatory gun locks. In Illinois, the governor plans to sign a law requiring background checks for all buyers at gun shows, and a NY countyt passes an ordinance banning weapons at all county buildings. In really bad news, the new Iraq consitution effectively bans gun ownership by civilians, and in Jamaica a Senator proposes firearms registry.
In commentary this week, don't miss JPFO's ' The Second Amendment is alive and well' (a response to David Brownlow's "The Second Amendment is Already Dead", see last week's 2AM News), Lady Liberty's 'Is an armed citizenry really irrelevant in today's world?' and
Eric Ross' 'Of guns and men'.
Til next week
Mary Lou
